Locus typicus nach Dujardin (1972: 3): Griechenland, Kykladen, Syros (Holotypus), und Santorin (Paratypus).

Fibiger et al. (2009) setzen die Art für Europa in eckige Klammern, weil die Untergattung Hymenocryphia, zu der der männliche Holotypus und der weibliche Paratypus gehören, sonst nur aus dem Himalaya bekannt war: Schon seltsam, dass da ein Nichtlepidopterologe bei einer kurzen Reise auf verschiedene Kykladen-Inseln, lediglich drei Bryophila-Belege sammelte, von denen dann zwei von verschiedenen Inseln (gesammelt am 15./ 16. und 19. Juli 1970) Holotypus und Paratypus einer neuen Art werden sollten, während kein Lepidopterologe hier auf Spuren dieser Art stieß. Sie interpretieren den Befund: "The records from Syros and Santorini are considered dubious, and to our knowledge the species has not been recorded in Europe since. Its true distribution, most probably in the mid-west of the Himalaya mountain range, remains to be investigated." (Fibiger et al. 2009). Jene Autoren schließen auf Fehletikettierung (" ...; it was recorded by a non-lepidopterist during an Island cruise and is here interpreted as a case of mislabelling"), ohne sich festlegen zu wollen, ob diese nun versehentlich oder gar absichtlich erfolgte.

Fibiger et al. (2010) kommen hingegen zu einem ganz anderen Ergebnis: "The publication of these facts opened a new chapter in the knowledge of the taxon and a more recent finding seems to confirm the presence of this species in the Santorin Region! An additional male specimen was collected, according to the information of Frédéric Billi in July 1977 in Santorini under a public light in Thira city. The specimen shows external and genital features (slide No. FB281) identical with those of the previously known specimen, and the species is evidently still present in the area."
