4.1. Etymologie (Namenserklärung)

Varenne & Nel (2013: 17): « La nouvelle espèce est dédiée à notre ami et collègue Frédéric Billi, actif et enthousiaste lépidoptériste auquel la faune de France doit quelques nouveautés intéressantes. »

4.2. Taxonomie

Huemer & van Nieukerken (2021: 321) führten das Taxon einem Barcoding zu und berichteten: "The DNA barcode sequence of the holotype was already published by Huemer et al. (2020) and clearly differs from topotypical A. subericinella collected in eastern Austria. Moreover, it differs externally from A. leonhardi Krone, 1907, the only European species of the A. subericinella species-group without barcode (Huemer et al. 2020). However, the genus Aristotelia, and particularly the A. subericinella species group including A. billii, are in need of a taxonomic revision."
