A. mitrella wurde aus Biskra in Algerien beschrieben.

Sammut (1984: 19) listete die Art auch für Malta: "91. S. mitrella Walsingham, 1905 (370)". Die Zahl in runder Klammer bedeutet dabei laut Vorspann (S. 7): "In Microlepidoptera and Heterocera, the number in bracket refer to the number preceeding the species in Valletta - The Moths of the Maltese Islands." Die Art war also auch schon bei Valletta (1973) gelistet worden - eine Arbeit, die ich noch nicht studieren konnte. Die "91." wird S. 86 erläutert: "91. Recorded only by Borg." Und dazu steht im Vorspann (S. 6): "Unless otherwise stated, in the appendix, Borg refers to Paul Borg, The Lepidoptera of the Maltese Islands (1932)." S. 6 wurde aber auch kommentiert: "This list is a systematic arrangement of all the species which have been recorded in print as having been collected or observed in the Maltese Islands, irrespective whether the taxon has been recorded in error or not. Certain species, especially those listed by Paul Borg (1932) are obviously listed in error. But since the collections of Borg and other contemporary Lepidopterists like Caruana-Gatto are no longer extant, it is difficult to single out those species which have been truely collected in Malta." Anders formuliert: Für die alte Angabe von Borg (1932) gibt es keinen überprüfbaren Beleg und Fehlbestimmung ist extrem wahrscheinlich. Wohl deshalb wurde das Taxon auch nicht in die Checkliste von Karsholt & Razowski (1996) oder später in die Fauna Europaea aufgenommen. Da die Art später von niemandem anderen mehr auf Malta gefunden wurde, wird das Taxon auch von uns nicht für Malta (und damit Europa) akzeptiert.
