3.1. Etymologie (Namenerklärung)

Hsu & Powell (2005: 108) erklärten: "An adjective of Latin origin, apricus = sunny, exposed to the sun."

3.2. Taxonomie und Faunistik

Aetole aprica gehört zur 6 Arten umfassenden "Aetole tripunctella-group" von Hsu & Powell (2005: 99-111). Zu ihr gehören noch A. cera Hsu, 2005, A. favonia Hsu, 2005, A. inusitata Hsu, 2005, Aetole unipunctella (Walsingham, 1892) und die namengebende A. tripunctella (Walsingham, 1892)."

Aetole aprica wurde von Hsu in Hsu & Powell (2005: 108) nach nur zwei schon vor langem am Fort Davis, 5000', in Texas gefangenen Männchen beschrieben.

3.3. Typenmaterial

Hsu & Powell (2005: 108) schrieben zum sehr beschränkten Typenmaterial: "Holotype: ♂: U.S.A.: TEXAS: JEFF DAVIS Co.: Fort Davis, 5000', X.1927 (Meyrick coll., BMNH). 1 ♂ paratype: same data as holotype."
