Ragonot (1881: 232) beschrieb das Taxon auf Artebene, als solches wurde es aber selten akzeptiert. Erst Corley et al. (2020) erheben das bis dahin allgemein als Synonym von Cochylimorpha discopunctana (Eversmann, 1844) geführte Taxon wieder in den Artrang.

4.3. Faunistik

Locus typicus ist Braganza (Bragança) in Portugal. Corley et al. (2020: 149) schreiben zur Verbreitung: "Distribution: Endemic to Portugal, being known from just three localities in the east of the country, although the precise location of the original specimen is not known, since Bragança is a large district. The site could possibly have been at some distance from the city."
